Clinical Psychology is one of the fastest growing health care professions. The study aimed at investing the causes of mental retardation and behavior problems in individuals and suggesting their management intervention program in early intervention perspective. In the present scenario, the role of clinical psychology is growing more and more. Clinical psychologists who work as psychotherapists often utilize different treatment approaches when working with clients. While some clinicians focus on a very specific treatment outlook, many use what is referred to as an eclectic approach. This involves drawing on different theoretical methods to develop the best treatment plan for each individual client. The psychodynamic perspective developed out of the psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud. The core object of psychoanalysis is to make the unconscious conscious- to make the client aware of his or her own primal drives (namely those relating to sex and aggression) and the various defences used to keep them in check. This book explains what clinical psychology is, what clinical psychologists do, their professional ethics, training responsibilities, future of clinical psychologist to a non-specialist but informed readership.
