"That's true according to the law of the country," answered the king.

The wicked men then said, "We saw Daniel in his room, and there he knelt down and prayed to God three times. He did this for three days in a row."

When Darius heard this he was disappointed that he had signed such a cruel law because Daniel was a good man and president. He couldn't sleep that night, and in the morning the wicked governors and presidents came to him, and they reminded him of the new rule, and that according to the country of Persia no signed rule by the king could be changed. The king had no choice but to command his servants to get Daniel and throw him into the den of lions. When the servants heard what the king said, they brought Daniel to the den where the lions were kept. Darius then said to Daniel, "Daniel, I hope the God whom you pray to deliver you from the lions."
