"Modern American Poetry" is a collection by the poet and historian Louis Untermeyer. In the book, Untermeyer presents a collection of poems from over 80 authors beginning with Walt Whitman and ending on Muriel Rukeyser. The poetry is presented in order of their lifetimes. Therefore, this collection reflects the evolution of moods, trends, and styles in the period between 1840-1942.
