Jonathan Edwards, often referred to as America's greatest theologian, lived from 1703-1758, and was used by God in the American Great Awakening. This sermon warmly encourages every person to make the same kind of effort that Ruth made in leaving her people and country to join herself to God and his people in Israel.
Edwards used a variety of things to stimulate the unbeliever toward faith and repentance, such as: the goodness of God, the happiness of his people, the misery of turning back as Orpah did, and the earnest desire of God's people for every hearer to be saved. By these things, the hearer is strongly urged to match Ruth's resolve: to be steadfast and determined until he also is joined to God and his people.
This audiobook is read from Edwards' original text with only a few minor changes to make it more understandable to the listener.
