Rhymes are seen as playful reading. Yet studies of verses such as Baa Ba Black Sheep imply different meanings. In The Dragon and The Boy, a dragon creeping into the town, can be seen as similar to a disease creeping around a body, leaving trauma from the sediment. The brave boy reasons out a way to break down the dragon, in the same way the effects of diseases can be worked out. The Dragon and The Boy is encouragement to be courageous and start the process of self-care which begins inside the heart, mind, soul and will.
