Who was John, the son of Zebedee? And why is his gospel quite different from Mark, Matthew, and Luke?
We have in the Johannine literature of the Gospel of John, his three Epistles, and the book of Revelation, a very valuable theology that certainly complements the Pauline contributions to our understanding of Jesus Christ's ministry and message for humanity.
Reading from these Johannine writings, we can ask the beloved disciple, the younger but most spiritually mature of all the apostles -that was closer to Jesus and knew Him well- for new clues about His ministry and His teachings and what they meant for all humanity.
The author presents some of the apostle John's insights that are very valuable for all believers to fully understand the sacrifice of Christ's redemption and to find their way through their teacher and savior to the portal of the kingdom of God.
