These stories came around when I was sat in bar with two ladies having some beers in a bar on the island of Grenada , dressed in normal sailor style, shabby with a hint of panache and very suntanned. Some German ladies came past stating 'Ah, your're one of these washed up sailors,'. Whether this was derogative or complimentary comment I'm still guessing to this day, I hopefully assume they were fans of the film Castaway in which Tom Hanks was the main character.
