Crime Scenes In Appalachia is a series of five short stories about crime in the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia. The book follows a pattern of not only solving a crime but also the lives and loves of all the characters involved.
The first part of the book deals with the struggles and plight of the Appalachian people and pays tribute to Bascom Lamar Lunsford and his love for his Appalachian heritage.
Part one - One Call. The investigation begins with the discovery of nine bodies in an abandoned coal mine by four young hiking adults form Maryland. They are accused of killing them and are chased by the Sheriff and his militiamen. Special Agent Matt Pritchard and Charlotte Tanser lead the investigation to find the real killers.
Part Two - Moonlight Serenade. Matt and Charlotte investigate two unidentifiable bodies and must use their meticulous investigative skills to find out who they are and then find their killers.
Part Three - Road Kill. After a pile up of cars and trucks due to fog on the interstate Matt and Charlotte investigate an abandoned van with six bodies. They follow a trail of opioid use to find their suppliers and killers who show they will stop at nothing to continue in their illegal activities.
