  • This edition includes the following editor's introduction: Robert William Chambers, a successful, influential and chameleonic writer

  • First published in 1909, "The Danger Mark" is a novel by American writer Robert W. Chambers. "The Danger Mark" is one of Chambers' most popular novels and has been translated into several other languages around the world. In addition, a silent drama film based on this book was directed by Hugh Ford in 1918.
In the early years of his literary career, Chambers focused on weird horror, earning the admiration of his peers, including the great H.P. Lovecraft. Later he turned his attention to high-society drama and romance, but his treatment of these seemingly trivial topics is freighted with the same intensity and intrigue that characterized his previous work.
"The Danger Mark" follows the ups and downs of an orphaned twin whose hedonistic tendencies may prove to be her downfall. A gripping story filled with wealth, romance, adventure and one woman's struggle with addiction.
"The Mark of Danger" lives up to Chambers' penchant for walking on the edge of what was acceptable to the society of the time and then stepping beyond it with tact and grace.
