We have summarized the essential of this book by the author.
Introduction
We can consider that art has an oracular and prophetic character. Oracular because its language is not clear; prophetic because it makes it possible to understand one's own time.
At the end of the 20th century there has been a transformation of artistic criteria, but at the same time, the transformations encompass our relationship with nature, with other men and with divinity.
In the 18th century, the philosopher Kant (belonging to the Enlightenment current) separated art from philosophy and religion, turning it into an autonomous sphere. Science, morality, and art became separate domains.
Today the perspective is different. Art is losing its independence; In addition, the artistic genres are confused with each other. Art opens up to non-artistic spheres, such as commercial design and advertising.
The notions of taste and beauty are also questioned. For the modern age, the beautiful was what was out of time and taste required a more or less universal consensus.
