It can be hard to develop a close relationship with God. We all fumble and try to do our best. But it's not easy. It requires humility and patience amid distractions and wishful thinking. Further, some of us don't feel worthy to get closer to God. We feel like we've done so much wrong that trying to grow closer to God is pointless. We may even think that God isn't interested in us. However, this isn't the case.

The real difficulty is that once we feel unworthy, it's quite unlikely that we will spend time with God to develop a close bond with Him. It would be like spending time with our father, who is mad or upset with us. It just doesn't work well at all. We can't feel open to talk to him because we fear repercussions. However, this isn't the case at all. God is merciful and ready for us to return to him in prayer and supplication.
