The Magic of Vex by Bob Doerr, the third book in The Enchanted Coin series, is an action filled fantasy that sends a teenage Earthling to the magic filled world of Vex. Samantha Gillespie, or Sam as she likes to be called, tosses a coin that she found in her backyard into a fountain in Disney World and is instantly sent to a world she doesn't recognize. She soon realizes that she has been sent to the planet Vex to help two young Vexans and an old wizard reach the city of Alcala. To reach the city, they have to overcome magical obstacles, and once in Alcala, they are confronted by an evil wizard. Even if they succeed, how can Sam return home?
