History is... a matter of fact or perspective? (Tracy DW)
Influenced by her work in school projects on Black History and a desire to see a global approach and a balance of perspective in teaching history in schools, Tracy DW presents 'Caribbean Wind.' This is the first story to be published in the 'Stories to be tolled' series celebrating a major turning point in the relationship between the UK and peoples of the Caribbean. Over the course of history, Africans and their descendants have made many journeys by boat across the Atlantic Ocean but none was more significant than that journey made by 'HMT Windrush.' The legacy of the Windrush Generation has been an eventful one that is full of contributions such as the Notting Hill Carnival. This story is a celebration of their contributions and how Britain became a more multi-racial society.
Guiding the reader through key events and mile stones in the Empire Phenomenon, 'Caribbean-Wind' is a poetic narrative on Britain's colonial past; why the British took control of so many countries, how it maintained its power and its impact on the many ethnicities and cultures that were changed forever.
