Social Justice: A Political Philosophy for Progressives defines social justice as the condition in a society in which no one suffers unnecessary, chronic, coercive injury caused by others either intentionally or negligently. Government corruption, involuntary poverty, illness and property damage resulting from unnecessary environmental degradation, abuse by religious authorities, institutional racial discrimination. These are a few examples of the culture of social injustice which negatively affects most Americans in different ways. This book documents this culture with verifiable factual information. It discusses how our attitudes, values and beliefs influence social justice or the lack thereof. The book calls for action that will result in greater social justice for everyone. It answers conservative critiques of social justice. Hopefully this book will help to improve our country in this time of increasing violence and self-centered behavior.
