James and Maria are united in, while at the same time, separated by guilt. Both are looking for atonement and ultimately, forgiveness for a tragic event that links them together, unbeknown to them. They learn, in different ways, about the Camino to Santiago de Compostela - the age-old pilgrimage route in Spain and both embark on it in the hope of finding redemption, but they encounter something very different. Their respective journeys take them from Malta to France and then through the North of Spain, all the way to the end of the Earth at Cape Finisterre, where their story reaches its fateful conclusion.

"The opening chapters in Malta set the scene of the motivation for the two main characters to make the pilgrimage: a tragic road accident in which each of the two, unbeknown to the other, has cause to feel guilt. We follow James as he makes his preparations and arrives in St-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Maria in Pamplona. Each of their Caminos unfolds and they encounter La Tuna, the student minstrels; Tomas, the last of the templars ...... and much more. The scenes of Camino life are true to life and the novel will surely attract new pilgrims and be recognized by existing pilgrims."
The Confraternity of St James – London

"The somewhat solemn tone of this new novel's title might put off many readers from reading a novel in which the joys of a new love and the danger that threatens it form one of the main threads. The setting of most of the action...is Spain's famous Camino de Santiago, which ends in the great cathedral of St James in Santiago de Compostela...and beyond it in Finisterre. In his foreword, the author confesses his addiction to the Camino, to which he has gone back again and again, and this predilection makes him enrich his narrative. In this debut novel, Mangion shows a structural and narrative ability that promises well for the future."
