Trondheim Norway. 1944.

In 1944 the life expectancy of a U-Boat crew was sixty days. A young, newly married captain of a U-Boat currently alongside at Trondheim is waiting to sail on his next patrol. When he receives a message informing him his wife was killed during a bombing raid on Cologne. He decides he has had enough of war and wants out but how? To desert would be unthinkable. He needs a plan. When he is told that consignments of Russian gold are being sent by rail from Moscow to Murmansk for loading into allied ships of the artic convoys returning to England, he creates an audacious plan to steal part of a consignment. His next patrol will take him along the north coast of Iceland where he can hide the gold in an uninhabited fjord. With the gold securely hidden he will be able to return after the war to recover it. To ensure his survival he surrenders his boat to the British. He and his crew are taken to a PoW camp outside Reykjavik where they will remain until transfer to Canada. Everything goes to plan until his fellow officers in the PoW camp accuse him of cowardice and subject him to a kangaroo court where he is found guilty and subsequently murdered. A member of his crew sent to the same PoW camp, logged the location of the gold in a diary. But in such troubled times can he and the diary survive?
