Jeff Frazier is thoroughbred trainer whose dream is about to become a reality. His wife's colt has the talent and the ability to compete in some of the most prestigious races in the country. But she disagrees with her husband's plans for the colt's future and the horse's success on the racetrack could cost Jeff his marriage, or even his life.

When the colt become the catalyst for murder and a well-known jockey is killed, circumstantial evidence points to an innocent man. Sonny Williams is arrested for the murder. As evidence mounts against him, the fate of three families hangs in the balance. With the trial date closing in, the killer's identity remains a mystery. Some horsemen, however, believe they have it figured out and they decide to dispense their own form of justice, complicating the search for the truth.
