Major A. C. Bannister—known as Ace—grew up on the mean streets of a Texas town. The army was his one chance to get out, and he took it. He worked his way up through the ranks and now, as ROTC head at a Texas college, he's admired by all the young men—and adored by all the young women. Truly a "major attraction..."
Captain Meredith Marshall St. James has a West Point education, a general for a father and an attitude that doesn't meet with the major's approval. Ace just doesn't hold with her belief in a "new" army, a "softer: army.
He soon learns two things:

2. on the battlefield of love, unconditional surrender is sometimes the only option!
