Das Drama "Dantons Tod" stammt von Georg Büchner und wurde 1835 veröffentlicht. Es spielt im Jahre 1794, weshalb der Hintergrund der Handlung die Französische Revolution ist. Es handelt davon, dass Danton, anders als Robespierre, gewaltlos eine Republik erschaffen will. Am Ende wird er jedoch selbst zum Opfer.
