Siblings Athena and Milo are determined to help their sick mother who is in pain and cannot sleep. When they decide to go on a journey to retrieve berries with healing powers for her, the children have no idea what lies ahead, only that they must do what they can to make her better. After they tell their mother they are playing outside, Athena and Milo sneak away and walk for hours until they find the berry bushes in the forest. As they carefully pick the berries from the thorny bushes, they suddenly feel eyes upon them as the growls of six wolves fill the air. After they order the wolves to eat the magical berries, the children escape to a nearby cottage where they soon realize their difficulties are just beginning.
