"The lady Chief of Ruhinda" tells a story of Nyangoma the only daughter among the four children of Chief Ruhinda. Chief Ruhinda was very old and wished to choose his heir. He wished to select the wisest among his children. He had no special preference as to whom should inherit his throne. As the traditions of Ruhinda stood, it was expected that one of his three sons – Matata, Murunga and Mulisa. He subjected them to a test in order to choose the most suitable to replace him. Nyangoma proved more intelligent than her brothers to be chief of Ruhinda. She was crowned the first lady chief of Ruhinda.
