SOCIETY is an introductory work in three parts and is concerned primarily with social relationships.
Part One defines the terms of root significance in sociological analysis, deals with essential distinctions of a psychological nature, and discusses the question of the individual and the social group or community.
Part Two covers the character of social structure and the conservative forces that make for cohesion and stability. There are chapters on code and custom as an integral part of social relationships, and the various modes of grouping that comprise the pattern of social structure.
Part Three illustrate evolution at work in the interpretation of social change, explains the causes and course of social change, and considers the concept of social change, with emphasis on its evolutionary aspects.
