The present contribution is intended to fill the information gap on freshwater fish species by providing relevant data at one place for conservation, management and sustainable utilization of fishery resources. I look forward for suggestions and constructive criticism from enlightened readers for additional enhancement of this publication. It is hoped that this publication will provide basic information on the freshwater fish fauna of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha and offer better inputs for scientific management and sustainable utilization of the resources.
