Mekedo grew up in Tanzania. Her father was one of the soldiers killed by extremists in the name of freedom. She was still a young girl attending high school at the time. Her mother had financial problems as she had no income. She could not afford to pay for her schooling. Her mother's brother was a prosperous businessperson. He offered to help the family financially. However, his help was conditional and her mother accepted his condition. He began paying attention to Mekedo's welfare. At first, she was not comfortable but she realized that she did not have a choice.
She completed her high school education and advanced to university. After the passing of her mother, her uncle moved into her home. She became pregnant with his child. She hated the man and she decided to get rid of him permanently. Then she migrated to South Africa. She met a labour broker and he promised to find her a suitable job. She met Candice and Moaner, they were working for the labour broker. Sam was one of the job seekers and he liked her but did not approach her. They would meet again after a few years.
The labour broker, Marais, became infatuated with her. He took her to one of his safe houses. She became his plaything. She soon realized that he was keeping men and women in the basement. She had no idea then that he was a criminal. Calvin was a dedicated detective and he was on his trail.
