Safer than they had been since that day; every noise shook them to their core. Scanning the room, something moved in the shadows. His heart stopped and he jumped out of his skin, reaching for his gun. His friends looked at him and knew. Darkness was coming. That day was like any other normal day. There were faint sirens in the background but that was not unusual. The town was quiet but bustling. They met up like always after school.
