The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is an existentialist novel about Gregor Samsa, who one morning wakes up to find out that he has turned into a giant insect. The protagonist goes through a physical transformation and is no longer able to support his family financially or emotionally. His new form makes it impossible for him to function or even stay at home with his loving family anymore.
