After the sudden death of William Collins, Elizabeth Bennet accepts an engagement to a man who is not quite her ideal gentleman. Timothy Montrose is many decades older than Elizabeth, he is quite dull, and he reminds her of one of her father's prized bulldogs. But he is kind enough and the wedding will bring her mother great joy, if not her father.
