Written by a girl for Children, Samantha's book is full of action and Drama revolving around a young girl. The young girl changes into a mermaid when wet. She is a princess and will have to battle during her life with people, monsters and magic to get to be queen (even against her own mother.)

A second dimension to the book is the exploration of joining a new school and the interactions with strangers and various types of girls and some adults from a young girl's perspective, especially from the perspective of one that has secrets that she feels harmful to her if exposed and has fickle friends.
