Cats are small, furry mammals. A mammal is an animal that has fur and whose babies are born alive.
Cats have a round body with four legs.
They also have a long, thin tail. The tail of a cat is often as long as its body. Some cats have shorter tails. Some are even born without a tail.
There are also some really big cats. The Maine Coon can be as big as two normal house cats.
A female cat is called a Molly. A male cat is called a Tom. The babies are called kittens.

This book is a shortened version of our popular "Cats: Our Furry Friends" and is intended for beginning readers. With only 1405 easy to read words, young children can experience for themselves the joy of learning about the cat. They will find out the answers to these questions:
Can cats see most colors?
Why is a cat's head as wide as its body?
Can cats hear better than dogs?
Do humans have more bones in their back than cats do?
How many sounds can cats make?
And many more!
