Wedding Songs is an intimate book of poetry about family, love, marriage, parenting, and cats. Renowned Canadian poet and editor John Robert Colombo observed that Herb's poems "are exceptionally vivid in describing situations, rather than ideas per se, and in establishing mature responses to paradoxical situations, especially situations like those that involve your young daughter. It'll be a long time before I forget your poem, "self image".
Written on the dually auspicious occasions of the author's parents' 50th wedding anniversary AND his sister's marriage, these verses consider the harsh and happy realities of life after "I do", and muse on the young, old, and in-between of love.
Herb Kauderer is the author of eight chapbooks of poetry. He received the Sycamore Award for historical writing (both poetry and prose), won the 2008 Ewaipanoma Sonnet Contest and the 1998 WorldCon Poetry Slam and has been nominated for many other accolades. In addition, Herb Kauderer is an associate professor of English at Hilbert College and owns a completely unreasonable number of college degrees, including an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College.
