In the aftermath of the First World War, many leaders and intellectuals believed a League of Nations, the forerunner of today's United Nations, would ensure world peace. The vision had no more effective or tireless advocate than Wells, who with a panel of distinguished collaborators, including Viscount Grey, Gilbert Murray, and J. A. Spender, made the case in this brief 1919 monograph.
