In this work, Denison examines an entire history of cavalry, starting with the earliest chariots, then touching on Greek and Roman cavalry, cavalry in Europe and under Napoleon, following the history through the American Civil War and beyond. He also looks at armament, equipment, and employing cavalry in a campaign.
