On December 11, 1914, twenty-one-year-old Billy Stone was working the night shift at Whitby Junction Station, in Whitby, Ontario. At exactly 12:37 AM, a single gunshot rang out in the station. It was a shot to the heart, that proved fatal for the young telegraph operator. He died shortly afterwards.

There was an investigation into Stone's murder, and the authorities ran up several possible leads. There were a few suspects – everyone from Stone's best friend, his father, the local homeless population, a strange prowler, and so many more. As they slowly whittled away the suspect list, they struggled to find out who had shot Billy Stone that cold winter night. Billy Stone's murder is still unsolved to this day.
