Matt gets off the bus and wheels his suitcase out to the street. Being Matt, a by damn Project Manager, he then uses his cell phone to call for a taxi. He then has the taxi driver deliver him to the headquarters of Aardvark Technical Incorporated. Matt then struts into the lobby and tells the Receptionist that he is to speak with Personnel.
Instead of Personnel, Matt gets to speak with me, Jim Ryll.
I ask, "Matt, what brings you to ATI?"
Matt tells me, "The Lozenge Corporation went bankrupt. My last paycheck bounced and I need a job."
I ask Matt, "A job doing what?"
Matt says, "I was a Project Manager for the Lozenge Corporation and I'm looking for a Project Manager job here at Aardvark Technical Incorporated. I'm willing to work a field assignment."
I tell Matt, "During the time that you worked at the Lozenge Corporation, you showed up for work at 9:30AM or 10AM, when work started at 8AM. Your own project meeting had to be moved back to 11AM, so that you could attend. That's not how we do things at Aardvark Technical Incorporated."
"Matt, you clearly demonstrated that you had no concept of what a computer programmer is to do and how to manage the work of a computer programmer. You allowed Billy to remain on staff, when Billy produced no usable programming work. Why is that?"
Matt says, "Yes, that was a misjudgment on my part. However, I learned from that."
"Matt, you allowed little Bo Peep to charge time to your project, when she later admitted that she had done no work on the project, but forced other computer programmers to do what should have been her work. The other, slave, computer programmers bailed out of the Lozenge Corporation, as soon as other jobs could be found. Why is that?"
Matt says, "Yes, that was an accommodation, on my part, to prevent the girl from filing a complaint with the Ladies Legal Center. However, I learned from that."
I ask, "Did you learn that your accommodation amounted to a charge of fraud on the United States government?"
Matt says, "Yes, there is a charge of fraud on the United States government. However, it's just a technical charge and I am getting that cleared up."
I say, "That's interesting. With the bankruptcy of the Lozenge Corporation, you no longer have the Lozenge Corporation legal staff working on your behalf. Since you no longer have the Lozenge Corporation legal staff working on your behalf, you obviously want the Aardvark Technical Incorporated legal staff working on your behalf. That is not going to happen."
Matt says, "Yes, there is a technical charge of fraud on the United States government. However, my own lawyer can get that cleared up."
I say, "Please let me know when your own lawyer gets that cleared up."
Matt says, "That may take some time. Meanwhile I need a job."
