Malthiar has never known any world but Faerie, has never thought of himself as anything besides "fae." When his father reveals that he's half-human, the news shatters his idyllic childhood illusions.

Now that the truth is out, Malthiar finds his faerie friends less than welcoming. Alone and out-of-sorts, Malthiar hopes that searching for the mother he never knew might offer a chance to find his place in the world.
