Often perceived as a body that lacks efficacy, very inactive and rampant antisemitic, the United Nations is the first successful attempt that has endured over 75 years to bring nations together and to try solve their differences to avoid war and ensure peace. With a total lack of efficacy in both pre-emptive measures and de-escalation of existing conflicts which have ranged from social disputes to all-out wars, the United Nations began with United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt to try avoid a third world war. He worked many months with counterparts, Churchill and de Gaulle, but Stalin proved to be the toughest to deal with.
