The winter frost sat idly by within the casings of the streetlamps, dimming the brightness of the beams that lit the way along the road. I couldn't sit still in my seat. I wasn't in any state of enthusiasm and my restive mood was unpleasant to say the least. To calm myself I played around with the air conditioning controls, but no respite was to be found in this activity. In fact, it unsettled me even more. Nothing could hold my attention for more than a moment before some new thought banished the old.

As an antidote to my waning attention span, I fixed my gaze outside the car window. Our destination for the evening was snuggly slotted within the dusk cloaked landscape. It sat on a promontory overlooking the azure sea below; the waters crashed into the side of the cliff face and took on a pinkish hue when reflecting the last rays of the sun's glow. Artists tirelessly try to capture the mesmerising marvels of nature, but no one could ever replicate the masterful mixing of colours in that skyline. The soft ambers slid into crimson reds which bled into a deep purple.

The further we drove along the ridge road, the more the venue came into view. Passing through the carbon-coloured gates, we entered the grounds of the estate. The road pushed through a collection of thick tall trees which obscured what lay beyond. Once through the expanse, the trees opened up to a gargantuan green lawn, which had been diligently maintained, in fact much of the surroundings had been sculpted to be as pleasant to the eye as possible.
