Valerie never wanted to be a hero. And now she's tired of pretending to be something she's not. When an offer comes to move halway around the world, to a place where she would be free, wouldn't have to worry about the Hero Society trying to arrest her, and would get to return to the work she loves as a scientist, Valerie leaps at the opportunity.

But things could never be that simple, and as Valerie starts to become aware of just what is happening in the nation of Rontanista she starts to wonder that maybe the reason there are no heroes is because the country is run by a villain.
