This book decribes the life of a young girl born in a primitive village in Thailand who grew up on an isolated jungle farm. Due to circumstances beyond her control she must leave the comfort and protection of her parents' home and venture out on her own, living by her wits and encountering many challenging situations along the way. She eventually meets some Americans who influence her life in a big way. She meets and marries an American military man and relocates to the United States where she faces a whole new set of challenges and gradually settles in to a new and fulfilling life in America.
