Prameha is described by all the classic texts of Ayurveda. This shows high prevalence of Prameha in the era of classics. The signs & symptoms of Prameha can be correlated with Diabetes mellitus (DM). In India the prevalence rate of DM is 12 to 19 %. The method of diagnosis of DM is based on Blood Sugar Level, whereas Prameha should be diagnosed on the basis of Mootraparikshana.
