Blown Away is a collection of ethereal declarations and fragmented utterances echoing in the chambers of the skull and the depths of the belly. vito m. bonito's collection, first published in Italian and now translated into English by Allison Grimaldi Donahue recounts the experience of another world, the space of the non-living but also the non-dead, a state of limbo in which peace and calm are sought after but impossible to find. The poems recall the shadows, landscapes, and images of childhood in Giovanni Pascoli's poetry as much as the sinister laughter and violence portrayed in the films of Harmony Korine. bonito is a rigorous and singular voice in contemporary Italian poetry.
