Grey divorce, defined as a divorce for people over fifty years-old, is a big issue right now as the rates of it are climbing. In this novel, the author reveals the main issues and causes of grey divorce through the vehicle of a fictional support group.

I knew that I wanted to write about grey divorce, in particular, because of the statistical rise for that demographic. I wanted to focus on women in the hope that my observations would resonate for both sexes. Women would see themselves in my observations, and men would understand grey divorce from the female perspective.

In my case, I attended a divorce support group and found it helpful. Support groups are not for everyone, but for this novel, it was a convenient way for me to express the concerns of a diverse group of women. The leader of the group is a composite of my support group leader, and of many therapists I met profession¬ally throughout the years. The members of the group are also a composite of real and imagined people and circumstances. (Author)
