Thorn is six and he wishes school wasn't just about sitting at his desk and listening to the teacher talk. He has bigger dreams of working with his dad driving excavators and playing professional basketball. But Thorn doesn't seem to learn like the other kids who can sit at a desk and learn his letters, words, and his left from his right. He needs something more. Mrs. Finch, his first grade teacher, knows exactly what to do. When Thorn gets to school one morning, he sees Mrs. Finch out at the basketball court, ready to teach him his left from his right hand as well as some stellar moves on the court.
