Radio success eluded Milton Berle who starred in no less than six short-lived series between 1939 and 1949. In his autobiography, Berle joked, "Maybe nobody today remembers the Texaco Star Theatre on radio, but it was the best radio show I ever did." Its weekly highlight was "The Berles at Home," a family situation comedy. Although Milton Berle never caught on as a radio star, he became a huge star when he took to the tube in 1948 and became a national sensation as "Mr. Television."
