While many are aware of the devaluation of Chinese females in China, the struggles of Chinese males in America often go unnoticed. Eighteen-year-old Harvey, though only half-Chinese, appears fully Asian and faces the same racism and discrimination as other Asian males. Navigating the complexities of college life, Harvey finds it difficult to make friends and nearly impossible to find a girlfriend. His parents, who harbor their own prejudices, offer no support.

When he meets a young woman who seems perfect in every way, he dares to hope for a brighter future. She brings light into his isolated world. However, as their relationship deepens, Harvey begins to see cracks in her façade. What initially seemed like a dream come true slowly reveals itself to be a nightmare of manipulation and abuse.

Can Harvey find the strength to break free from the cycle of abuse and reclaim his sense of self-worth, or will he be trapped by the very hope that once lifted him up?
