This work is a massive collection of delightful poems by C. R. Dorr. These poems comprise various themes and subjects. Julia Caroline Ripley Dorr (1825 – 1913) was an American author who published both prose and poetry but was best known for poetry. She did not write anything that she believed was inappropriate for children. Dorr's poems were distinguished by power and melody, sweetness and empathy, detailed knowledge of poetic technique, and through all, a high purpose that rendered such work of eternal value. Most of her lyrics were inspired by real experiences, large and small. The sonnet was her favorite verse form. If one could judge from her poems, she must have lived an outstanding life The collection consists of several poems under the titles: Earlier Poems "Pro Patria" Friar Anselmo, and Other Poems Sonnets Afternoon Songs Later Poems
