Salvador Ramirez, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, becomes a thorny problem for his Bishop. Even some parishioners believe Father Sal’s preoccupation with migrant ministry to be misguided and call for his removal. Sadly, the Bishop agrees. Angered and depressed, Sal demands a lengthy sabbatical that would include a rash change of scenery.

Unfortunately, bruised spirits join the baggage he takes with him to the beach, leaving him ill prepared to experience Ms. Grace Cooney for the first time. Her simple, magical joy of life is a gift that Sal finds both calming and invigorating. Impetuously, Sal sees the relationship as divinely inspired and, like a child, falls madly in love. But, to his chagrin, Sister Grace has other plans. . .
