Ms Vicky McCarthy Keane is an Irish solicitor and writer. After being diagnosed with motor neuron disease she began writing poetry through eye-gaze technology. The result is Through My Eyes, a collection that is both richly allegorical and viscerally personal. 'Be still my friend for I shall follow you now/shroud me in your eternal grip' - so writes McCarthy Keane in her opening poem, addressed to the ethereal figure that haunts so many of her verses.Through My Eyes hints at a battle with fate, richly imagined in the form of a journey, but the collection is also dappled with light and hope, with the final poem 'Sunset over Fanore' beautifully signalling towards a paradise regained.
