It is 3414 A.D., thirteen hundred and thirty years after the dawn of the New Era and the “Stoner” society. In order to overcome Earth’s severe overpopulation, the Stoner society has been forced to limit each of its citizens to living one day a week—subsequently casting them into a frozen or “stoned” state until their designated life day the following week. This is the story of top-secret “immer” agent Jeff Caird and his fellow Daybreakers—anti-government rebels who place their lives in danger in order to resist this imposed order. Armed with an elixir that offers immunity against the stoning process, the immers must create alternate identities for each day of the week in order to remain hidden from a government that hunts them. For the immers, each day means a new spouse, a new profession, and a new lifestyle that they must master down to the last detail -- for if they are caught, they face the New Era government’s truth mist, placing the entire immer resistance in jeopardy.
