This book is dedicated to a novel principle of local intravascular drug delivery - the drug-coated balloon. The drug-coated balloon might overcome some limitations of drug-eluting stents. The chapters of this book summarize the clinical background, the history and conception of non-stent-based local intravascular drug delivery, as well as preclinical and clinical developments of the drug-coated balloon based on PACCOCATH matrix technology. The aim of this medical textbook is to provide a compact summary of this new approach for interested researchers and physicians.
